In brief
TakeBackup is the backup software developed by 7 Tepe Bilişim. It backs up your Hyper-V and VMware virtual machines, verifies integrity at the end of every job, keeps an immutable copy and restores the backup as a new virtual machine without touching the original machine. The software runs inside your organization. It is for IT teams that want to back up their virtual servers on their own infrastructure.
Features
The list below was verified against the TakeBackup 2.254.0 source code on 24 October 2026; Hyper-V backup and restore were tested end to end on 24 October 2026 in a nested Hyper-V lab environment.
Hyper-V and VMware virtual machine backup
Takes a full backup of your virtual machine; after the first full backup, later backups move only the changed blocks (CBT on VMware, RCT on Hyper-V).
Data reduction
Deduplication and compression reduce the backup size: about two-thirds less written in a single measurement (about 28.5 GB read, about 9.8 GB written; 1 Windows server, Hyper-V, 15 October 2026; results vary with the data).
Integrity verification
It verifies the integrity of the backup at the end of every job; a weekly automatic integrity scan also runs.
Restore as a new virtual machine
It restores the backup as a new virtual machine without touching the original machine (Hyper-V and VMware); you choose the new virtual machine's name and the target storage.
Isolated boot test (VMware only)
It starts the machine from the backup without a network connection, checks that it is alive and reports the result. A boot test shows that the machine starts; it does not show that the application is consistent.
Immutable backup
WORM retention, a Linux hardened repository installed with an agent, and S3 Object Lock. On WORM and the hardened repository the backup cannot be deleted or changed from within TakeBackup; with S3 Object Lock in compliance mode no one can change or delete it until the period ends.
Encryption always on
Backups are encrypted with AES-256-GCM; there is no setting to turn it off.
Multiple targets
Local disk, SMB share, cloud object storage and hardened repository. A copy job to a server at a second location: the primary backup is taken locally and its copy is sent to the remote server.
Capacity warning
It warns at a repository fill threshold and uses the last 30 days' average to calculate how many days remain until the repository is full.
Runs inside your organization
The service, the database and the management console sit on your infrastructure; you decide where the backup is kept.
Turkish and English interface
The management console is available in two languages.
The data reduction figure comes from a single measurement; results vary with the data, and we do not promise the same result in every environment. The isolated boot test is currently available for VMware only.
